Thirty Candles is a playful, heartfelt narrative cabaret inspired by the coming-of-age magic of John Hughes films and powered by the unforgettable music of the 1980s.

If you Just Can’t Get Enough of the ‘80s, this is your sign to dust off your leg warmers, tease your hair, and show us what you've got!Whether you’re on the Edge of Seventeen or seventy, we want to see YOU Pump Up the Jam, get Into the Groove,show us your True Colors and Express Yourself!!

No need to feel Under Pressure. Relax, have Faith,and Don’t Stop Believing in yourself! Only Private Eyes will be watching your audition. So, Come on Eileen, Billie Jean, Jack & Diane,and everyone else reading this post. We can’t do this Alone! We Need You Tonight (or sometime before the deadline) to send in your audition video! We’ll be Right Here Waiting for your submission.

AUDITION DETAILS:

Auditions for Thirty Candles will be conducted via video submission only.

SUBMISSIONS MUST BE EMAILED BY 11:59PM ON SATURDAY, JULY 18TH.

Please prepare a 60–90 second selection of a song from the 1980s. Need a suggestion? Try one of these:

  1. “Sweet Child O’ Mine” by Guns N’ Roses

  2. “I Wanna Dance with Somebody” by Whitney Houston

  3. “Hello” by Lionel Richie

  4. “Take My Breath Away” by Berlin

  5. “The Way You Make Me Feel” by Michael Jackson 

All audition submissions must be performed with a backing track or accompaniment. A cappella auditions are not allowed.

HOW TO SUBMIT:

  • Record your audition video

  • Upload your video file to your email or provide a YouTube or Vimeo link

  • Email your submission to Kelly at: krmaloney@yahoo.com

  • Include your name and known rehearsal conflicts in the email

Rehearsals will be Mondays-Thursdays from August 3rd-20th, 7-10PM at Three Rivers Music Theatre. Performances are August 21st-23rd and August 28th-30th.

Thirty Candles will be directed by Kelly Maloney & Grant Blauvelt.
