Three Rivers Music Theatre’s Pre-Professional Musical Theatre Training Program is designed for serious high school performers preparing for collegiate and professional opportunities in musical theatre. This master class-style training meets weekly on Sunday afternoons and offers students an immersive, on-your-feet experience coaching their material in real time with individualized feedback.
Each week focuses on a specific genre or era of the musical theatre canon—Golden Age, Contemporary, Great American Songbook, Rodgers & Hammerstein, and more—ensuring students develop a versatile repertoire while deepening their understanding of musical theatre history and style. Seniors work toward the completion of their college audition pre-screen packages, while underclassmen build foundational skills and observe the pre-screen process from the inside.
This fall's semester includes:
Live coaching of audition songs weekly in a masterclass format
Opportunities to present full college audition packages
Pre-screen recording day for seniors, open for all to observe
Historical and stylistic exploration of major composers and genres
VIP college visit to Ball State University including class visits, Q&A with current BFA students, and a performance of Songs for a New World
A culminating performance: students will join alumni on stage for our annual “Home for the Holidays” Concert on December 21
This program maintains intermediate to advanced expectations and is ideal for students considering a BFA/BA in theatre or musical theatre.
